Here is a creature from the Rust Novel I’ve posted.

An image along with a corresponding piece from the story. This is basically just one of the many beguiling beasties currently residing in my brain. Captured here for your amusement. (c. 2011) If your bored enough to read a few chapters of my novel, I do welcome suggestions. Tell me what you think might make the eerie hike more inviting, and I’ll incorporate your changes where possible. If not, enjoy the picture.
Amelia pushed through a stand of bamboo and came upon a soothing scene.
Benches surrounded a bird bath in which a large number of bright orange butterflies rested.
Her dog ambled over to it. He stood on his hind legs and flicked out his long tongue in attempt to reach the still liquid hovering just over his head. Amelia called to her pet. Shiner gave the bird bath one last shove for its insolence and it toppled over.
Amelia whipped around with the intention of scolding him but was struck dumb by the sight of the butterflies.
All those bright orange wings belonged to the same creature.
Please do not use this without my permission, leave a comment explaining yourself if it is your intention to borrow any of my work, and we will discuss it. 🙂
Being able to give a figure of what’s lurking in your brain is very clever. I’m groping in the dark though as far as your art is concerned. Still, I am amazed with it. That creature looks like an offspring of a larger beast.
I couldn’t add more to the eerie look for it more moving. I think that’s perfect already.
Thank you for the comment. I just like to imagine new
and unusual monsters. I sort of combined a bat and a
centipede. I wasen’t asking for help with the picture.
Though – I’de be curious as to what someone else
would add, now that you mention it.
The creature is a monster in a long story I’ve posted.
The writing after the picture is a piece of that longer
story. Rust is the name of that story. It is listed off to
the side. The help I requested was with the story not
the picture.
Please, do not feel obligated, I am speaking
more to those who may be fiction writers themselves
and have an interest in novels and such. Otherwise
It’s just a drawing, glad you enjoyed it.
Hope my article is less confusing now. 🙂
P.S. – I do imagine that there is some giant
parent creature hideing somewhere in my story
creating these things, though I never do mention
where they are comming from – funney that you
would notice . . .
I love that your art informs your writing and v.v. They always say, “write what you know about” which I’m not sure I agree with but I do think it’s important to see it in your mind– see the setting, the characters, etc. Your creature is very real for you and I’m sure that will come through in the writing.
“A flying centipede, it’s many legs webbed like the fingers of a
bat slowly swam the air like a ribbon of fire.” Odds are if you’re
interested enough in something to write about it you probably
do have a lot of information on the subject. It’s also true that
authors have become wildly successful on laughably inaccurate
books – perhaps “write what you love” makes the most since. If
your not enthuisatic about something, it becomes even harder
to convince others to read about it. 😀
I love your drawings, they are truly amazing
Andrea xoxo
Thanx. 🙂
I really like this piece. What is the medium.
It began as a pencil line drawing. Then
I colored it with colored pencils. I scanned
it into my computer and improved it further
using a early version of Adobe Photoshop,
and there you have it. 🙂 Thanks for the
comment, it’s good to hear from you.
Thanks again for following.
that is an amazing creature that you imagined. wow!
the story has just begun, so all i can say its well written till now 🙂
suspense is perfectly captured, makes the reader eager to read more
The story peice is actually from the middle of
the RUST novel. Rust can be read in its complete
form if you click the category Rust, listed just under
my calendar on the left side of the screen. There is
a lot of it, so don’t feel obligated if it isen’t your thing.
Rust is basically about a pilot who delivers secret
messages during a war. She runs out of fuel and
is forced to land in a deserted ghost town, full of
mysterious monsters. Someone is following her,
but will not show himself.

I suggest It be read a little at a time – I am trying
to make it easier to read so if I loose you – tell me
why and show where.
thanks a million billion zillion times. i love to read all type of fantasy stories, even the absurd ones- because i believe concept of absurdity varies from person to person and an author should feel free to write whatever he or she fancies, after all, she is not begging anyone to read and love her works.
Your welcome. Thanks for your support.
your paintings are truly amazing. they are extremely attractive. the one you have used in your banner is a real eye catcher.
you have a genius brain.
Thank you – you can see
the rest of it by clicking on
the introduction category.
😀
Your pictures are brilliant.
keep up the good work. 🙂
I will thank you.
Good to see you
have a new post.
I was developing a flying centipede for my D&D campaign and I suck at art, so on a lark I googled “flying centipede” and found this page. Your picture is exactly what I had in mind (don’t worry – I’ll only share it with my players). But I particularly liked your narrative: “all those wings belonged to the same creature”. That’s nicely done!
Wow, I have not seen anyone down here in years. Thanks for noticing the centipede. Its a gremlin actually – crazy take on one – eats metal and is relatively small. Ide expect yours may be far larger when it pays a visit to your campaign. I used to play DD with my cousin. He let me be a dragon. A hatchling Brass named Feldspar.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment on a blog that’s been inactive for so long. You Make me seriously consider blogging again.
I hope you all enjoy battling my monster.
Let me know if there is anything else you’d like to see and I might post it.
I always like a challenge.
